• Bora Saool, a kind of sticky rice (1/4th Kg)

• Jaggery (200 gm)

• Sesame seeds (250 gm)

• Refined oil (250 ml)

• Water (1/4th cup)

This Xutuli pitha recipe for children involves the following preparation steps:

• Thoroughly wash the Bora Saool. Drain the Saool and dry it.

• Grind the Saool to make a fine powder.

• Wash the sesame seeds and scrub them to remove the skin.

• Dry roast the sesame seeds.

• Grind them into a coarse powder.

• Grate the jaggery and mix it with the sesame seed powder to prepare the stuffing.

• Mix water into the Bora Saool powder, add 2-3 tbsp of jaggery, and knead to make a soft dough.

• Take a small portion of the dough and flatten it with the help of your greased palm.

• Fill in about 1 tsp of the sesame seed powder and jaggery mix and seal the edges by pressing with your fingers.

• Heat oil until smoking hot, and deep fry the pithas on medium flame. They will soon acquire a golden-brown colour.

• Serve them hot.
