What is Parivahan Sewa?

The online portal and mobile app, Parivahan Sewa, has been launched by the MoRTH. With the aim to digitise the transportation-related services in the country, the portal has greatly been able to make things simpler and more consolidated for the users as well as the ministry. It acts as a centralised platform for all kinds of national as well as state-level databases pertaining to vehicles, their registration and driving licences.

Services Provided By Parivahan Sewa

Here are some of the many services that are provided by ParivahanSewa:

1. Vehicle Registration

The online registration of vehicles is done by the Parivahan Sewa. Along with providing temporary and permanent registration to new vehicles, transfer of ownership reregistration of vehicles is done by this portal. The fancy numbers that you see on cars and bikes are also issued by Parivahan Sewa.

2. Driving Licence

The application for issuance of a new licence or the renewal of an expired one can be submitted via the ParivahanSewa portal.

3. Tax Payment

Online payments of road tax can be made through the portal.

4. Fitness Certificate

Through the ParivahanSewa portal, users can get the mandatory Fitness Certificate for their private and/ or commercial vehicles.

How to pay taxes through the Parivahan Sewa app/portal?

Whenever you purchase a vehicle, you need to pay road tax to the government. The government uses this money towards the development and maintenance of the roads in the country. When it comes to road tax, private vehicles and commercial vehicles are equally charged. While the tax was earlier paid manually, the Parivahan Sewa portal allows the payment of tax online.

The steps to pay taxes through the Parivahan Sewa app/portal are well-illustrated and simple. For your assistance, the steps to be followed are as follows:

1. Visit the Parivahan Sewa portal or download the same on your smartphone

2. Click on ‘Online services and then on ‘Check Post Tax’

3. Click on the ‘Tax Payment’ option

4. Now, click on the state that you are planning to visit and then choose the ‘Service name’. Click on ‘Go’

5. You would now have to fill in your ‘Vehicle Number’ on the ‘Border Tax Payment’ application page

Have an echallan on your name? Here’s how you can pay any kind of fines and echallan through the Parivahan Sewa app/ portal:

1. Go to the e-challan Parivahan website.

2. Now go to ‘Check Online Services’, which will be on the top-left side

3. From the drop-down menu, go to ‘Check Challan Status’

4. You’ll now have to enter either the ‘Registered Number of the Vehicle’ or the ‘Challan number’ or the ‘Driving Licence Number’. Fill in the captcha code and click on ‘Get Details’

5. You’ll be able to see your challan

6. To pay the challan, you can click on ‘Pay Now’ and make the payment via any of the preferred payment modes

7. On successful payment, you’ll receive a confirmation message on your registered mobile number.

Vehicle Registration Certificate/ Driving Licence Certification and Status Check on the app/ portal

Completed your driving test and are now waiting for your Driving Licence Certification? Or waiting for your vehicle’s RC? Here’s how you can check the DL or RC status.

1. Driving Licence Certification and Status Check on the app/ portal

○ Visit the Parivahan Sewa portal or download the same on your smartphone

○ Click on ‘Online services and then on ‘Driving Licence Related Services’

○ Select the name of the state where you submitted your driving licence application. The state’s page will be displayed

○ Click on ‘Application Status’

○ Enter the required details, along with the captcha code and click ‘Submit’

○ Your DL status will be displayed on your screen.

2. Vehicle Registration Certificate and Status Check on the app/ portal

Once you know how to register vehicle, you can apply for the same online. Here’s how you can check the RC status.

○ Visit the Parivahan Sewa portal or download the same on your smartphone

○ Click on ‘Online services and then on ‘Vehicle Related Services’

○ You’ll now have to select the name of the state where you submitted your vehicle registration application. The state’s page will be displayed

○ Go to ‘Vehicle Registration’ and then enter the registered number. Once you choose the ‘State RTO’, click on ‘Proceed’

○ On the next page, click on ‘Status’ and then click on ‘Know Your Application Status’ option

○ Enter the RC application number, and the captcha and click on ‘Submit’. Your RC status will be displayed on your screen.

How to Apply for a Vehicle Fitness Certificate?

The 1989 Motor Vehicle Act makes it mandatory for every motorised vehicle to have a Vehicle Fitness Certificate. The certificate is proof that your vehicle is fit to be driven on the roads. The certificate is mandatory for private as well as commercial vehicles.

1. You would have to visit the Parivahan Sewa portal, or you can download it on your smartphone

2. Click on ‘Online Services’ and then on ‘Vehicle Related Services’

3. Now enter the ‘Registration Number’, enter the ‘State RTO’ and then click on ‘Proceed’

4. Depending on your requirement, you’ll now have to click on ‘Apply for a Vehicle Fitness Certificate’ or ‘Re-Apply for a Vehicle Fitness Certificate’

5. Fill in the required details like registration number, and mobile number. Once done, click on ‘Submit’

6. Carefully go through the options and choose the suitable option to get the Vehicle Fitness Certificate. You’ll now have to pick an appropriate appointment

7. To pay the fee, choose the relevant category and make the payment through an online payment mode

8. Take a print of the receipt and take it with you to the RTO appointment.

How to Apply for a NOC for Vehicle Owner Transfers?

You would have to apply for a NOC in case you are planning to move to another state or are planning to sell the vehicle to someone in a different state.

1. You need to visit the Parivahan Sewa portal or download it on your smartphone

2. Now go to ‘Online Services and then on ‘Vehicle Related Services’

3. Fill in the ‘Vehicle Registration Number’, enter the ‘State RTO’ and then click on ‘Proceed’

4. The state’s page with numerous options will be displayed, go to ‘No Objection Certificate’

5. Enter the required details and request an OTP on your registered mobile number. Click on ‘Submit’ once you authenticate the process

6. Once you update the ‘Insurance Details’, you will have to select the state you wish to transfer your vehicle

7. From the dropdown box, choose the NOC Certificate reason. You will have to enter the ‘Transferee Name’

8. Upload the documents as instructed and book an appointment

9. Calculate the payable fee and make the payment. The payment can be made offline as well at the RTO

10. If paying online, you’ll be able to download and print the receipt. Make sure to carry this when you go for your appointment.
