Animal Face Mask with Paper Plate - Fun DIY Craft for Kids

Getting your kid involved in a fun-filled activity for a long time is a huge challenge, considering children's high curiosity and limited attention span. However, if there is one activity they can enjoy without boredom, it is the animal face mask with a paper plate activity. You can make these masks from simple paper plates. Read on to know more.

How to make Animal Face Mask with Paper Plate

Irrespective of the type of animal you choose, here is a basic method of making an animal face mask with a paper plate:

What You Need

• Paper Plates

• Paints in different colours

• Paint Brushes

• Glue

• Scissors

• Straws or sticks

• Chart Paper

• Decoration items for embellishment

Method

• Cut your paper plate into two parts, with one being bigger than the other. We are going to make our mask on the bigger piece.

• Draw two eyes on the paper plate and cut them out perfectly. Alternatively, you can draw the eyes on chart paper, cut them, and stick them on the paper plate.

• Now, cut two triangles from the smaller piece of the paper plate. Stick these two triangles on the top left and top right corners of the plate. These will form the animal’s ears.

• Colour the paper plate thoroughly using a colour of your choice. These steps are common for masks depicting cats, ducks, pigs, dogs, etc.

• If you are making a lion, you can also make the lion’s mane and stick it around the plate. You can use plain strips of orange paper to make the mane.

• After colouring the paper plate, let it dry completely. In the meantime, cut out a nose from chart paper, foam paper, or any material of your choice.

• Stick the nose on the animal’s face only after the colours have dried properly. If you are making a cat, you can also make thin whiskers using black paper strips and stick them on either side of the nose at this time.

• Stick a straw or a stick at the back of the paper plate. Your animal face mask is ready.

• Your child will love to make masks like these every day of different animals.

• Use different embellishments or decorations of your choice to add more creativity to the project.

Making animal face masks using paper plates is one of the easiest and most engaging activities you can do with your child.
