5 Reasons to Motivate Children For Physical Activities!

Children who are put into fitness activity right from childhood tend to carry this healthy habit throughout their lives. Also, getting involved in physical activity from an early age helps develop strong core, muscles, and bones. Apart from this, kids should also be encouraged to eat healthy foods. Obesity is also a leading risk factor during COVID times; childhood obesity is also tied to many worrisome disorders in the later years. Lack of physical activity amongst children is one of the major factors leading to obesity.

Suppose kids don't do physical activity and have junk foods regularly. In that case, it could lead to health issues like high cholesterol, hypertension, gallbladder disease, osteoarthritis, coronary heart disease, stroke, Type 2 diabetes, respiratory problems, emotional disturbances, bone, sleep apnea and joint problems. Hence, it is essential to ensure that physical activity for children shouldn't be ignored. Instead, kids should be encouraged to participate in their favourite sports or enjoy activities like dancing, swimming, etc.

Now let us see five reasons to keep your children involved in physical activity

1. Strong Heart -

The heart responds to exercise by becoming stronger and more efficient. Getting involved in physical activity right from childhood strengthen the heart muscle, which can help ward off heart disease. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the leading cause of death in early childhood is heart disease.

2. Strengthen the Lungs –

Doing physical activity from an early age increases lung capacity and efficiency in moving air in and out of the body. As a result, more oxygen is drawn into the body and more carbon dioxide and other waste gases are expelled. Therefore, regular exercise since childhood helps prevent the decline in oxygen intake that occurs naturally with age or due to inactivity.

3. Stronger Bones -

According to the National Institutes of Health, adults start losing bone mass in their twenties; however those who exercise regularly reach greater peak bone density (before the drop-off) than those who don't. Increased bone density helps avoid osteoporosis, a condition in which bones lose density, weaken, and become fragile.

4. Keep the Weight Under Control –

Physically active Children have their weight in control, as they burn a good amount of calories. However, their unused calories get converted into fat for kids who do not engage in any physical activity.

5. Regulates Blood Pressure Level –

Regular physical activity helps reduce stress levels due to endorphin release. As the levels of stress in the body subsides, the blood pressure and the risk for heart disease decline. Kids are often stressed out due to studies; physical activity can help them manage stress and calm their minds.

Conclusion

There is a saying, "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy". Hence, ensure that your kids keep some time allotted for physical activity in their daily schedule. Parents should encourage their kids to join them in their physical activity, e.g., you can take your child for jogging, trekking, swimming, etc. Children often mimic the elders, so when you practice with them, you motivate the little ones in the house to lead a healthy lifestyle. Also, ensure that you do not give your kids unhealthy snacks like chips, cookies, and doughnuts. Instead, encourage them to eat more fruits and green leafy vegetables.
