Driving Licence Fees

Driving Licence Fees

An Indian driver’s license is required to legally ride a car on roadways. In order to drive any sort of automobile in India, an individual must first obtain a learner’s permit. For learning, a learner’s license is given. The individual must undergo the examination in the presence of an RTO authority within a month of receiving their learner’s license. After a careful appraisal, the RTO authority will evaluate if the individual passed the exam or not. The basic fee for a new driver’s license application is Rs.200, and the driving license test is Rs.300, although the DL fees differ between the various categories of licenses. Just as it is necessary to drive a vehicle with a driving licence, it is also mandatory to have a motor insurance policy. Ensure you buy a car insurance or two wheeler insurance policy for your vehicle. .

Who in India Grants a Driving License?

The nation’s Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) are accountable for issuing driver’s licenses. There is a specific existing RTO for each geographical region. The RTO within whose supervision the applicant resides will examine the request for a driving license. Since a valid driving license must always be possessed in order to legally drive an automobile on public roads, getting one from one of the recognized issuing bodies is crucial.

Types of Driving Licenses in India

In India, three major kinds of licenses are granted:

1
Learner’s License
Before issuing a permanent driving license, the Road Transport Authority (RTA) grants the applicant a learner’s license. It’s suitable for a maximum of six months. The applicant must present authentic documentation to the RTO and pass a brief test to obtain this license. The applicant is anticipated to enhance his driving abilities over the course of six months. The applicant can renew his learning permit if he continues to lack confidence in the automobile.
2
Permanent License
If the applicant passes the eligibility requirements, the RTA provides a permanent driving license upon the learner’s license period expiration. According to the requirements, the age of the candidate must be 18 years old and he/ she should pass the driving exam. If anyone fails the driving exam, he/she has seven days to repeat it.
3
Commercial License
This commercial driver’s license is only offered to individuals who operate heavy vehicles, such as delivery vans and trucks. The standards for this include that the candidate is at least 18 years old, begins training in a government training complex or a facility linked with the government, has accomplished their schooling up to the eighth grade, has proper identification, and already holds a learner’s permit.
