North Korea Open Doors to Tourists

North Korea has hinted at a potential shift in its stance on tourism. The Wonsan-Kalma coastal resort project, a luxurious complex featuring hotels and recreational facilities, is nearing completion and could open its doors to foreign visitors in 2025. This announcement marks a significant development, as North Korea has historically maintained tight control over foreign travel. The success of this project as a tourist destination relies heavily on North Korea easing its strict travel restrictions. It's important to note that some reports suggest the project has faced setbacks due to UN sanctions and the pandemic. Additionally, while North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has discussed opening the zone, it's unclear how receptive the country will be to foreign tourists.
