Southeast Asian countries are intensifying initiatives to draw Indian travelers by expanding flight services and simplifying visa procedures. Indonesia recently finalized an agreement with India, allowing airlines from both nations to operate 9,000 seats weekly, a significant increase from the previous 27 flights. This agreement grants Indonesian carriers access to Hyderabad and Bengaluru, in addition to Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai, while Indian airlines can now fly to destinations like Yogyakarta, Labuan Bajo, Manado, and Lombok, alongside Jakarta and Denpasar (Bali). Similarly, Thailand and Vietnam have liberalized aviation ties with India, contributing to a double-digit growth in Indian arrivals in 2024. These developments, coupled with visa exemptions and streamlined entry processes, aim to capitalize on the rising demand among Indian tourists for short, affordable international trips.
