What is required before applying for a visa?

As there is no visa on arrival for Indians in Singapore, they need to apply for the same before going. The two main conditions for the same are:

2. Your bank account should have enough funds.

Documents required for visa application

The following documents are required by the authorities to process the visa application for travel to Singapore:

1. An Indian passport with a validity of 6 months from the date of arrival.

2. 2 recent passport-sized photographs with a white background in matte finish. The picture should be 35mm X 45mm.

3. Any old passport might have needed to be enclosed too.

4. Air tickets for the return journey should be attached.

5. Form 14A of the visa application.

6. Bank statement for the last 3 months.

7. A cover letter from the applicant clearly stating the purpose of the visit.

How to apply for the visa?

Unlike some other visas, there is no in-person interview or application process for the Singapore visa. All that is needed is to fill out the application form and submit it along with the required documents. The following steps need to be taken to apply for a Singapore visa:

1. The visa form 14A needs to be downloaded from the website and filled in with all accurate details.

2. Check the validity of the passport.

3. Attach the cover letter addressed to The Embassy of Singapore, mentioning the purpose of the visit and dates.

4. Attach the air tickets for the return flights.

5. Attach a confirmed hotel booking.

6. Attach the bank statement showing adequate funds for the past 3 months.

7. Attach your travel insurance.

8. Vaccination certificate.

9. Pay the visa fees.

Processing time of the Singapore visa

The Singapore visa application can be submitted online or through a travel agent partner. On average, the processing time is 4-5 working days but one must apply at least 10 days before travelling to ensure the visa comes on time, though ideally, one should apply before that time.

Types of visas

For Singapore, you can apply for either a business visa or a tourist visa. The latter is for a holiday or a leisure trip whereas the former is for work. If you have a tourist visa, you do not have permission to work in the country and if you have a business visa you can only work for the period for which the visa is granted.
