At the recent Voice of Global South Summit Union Health Minister JP Nadda, highlighting India’s Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission’s success and functionality said India believes in democratising digital public goods and sharing freely with the world. He also stated that India is willing to support countries financially and technically who would like to adopt our customised digital health goods to boost their digital healthcare ecosystem.
Speaking more about the Ayushman Bharat Mission, he said that under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, India launched its flagship program Ayushman Bharat with the sole aim of providing comprehensive, people-centric, need-based healthcare services to people promising holistic healthcare. Through the four pillars of the Ayushman Bharat Mission, India is relentlessly trying to provide quality healthcare services to its people.
The first pillar of Ayushman Bharat is the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (ABPM-JAY) the largest health assurance scheme providing five lakhs rupees annually to over 120 million beneficiaries ensuring quality healthcare during crisis times. The second pillar is the PradharmantriAyushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission which focuses on filling the gaps in the healthcare industry and building proper infrastructure for research and development purposes. The third pillar of the Ayushman Bharat mission is the Ayushman Arogye Mandir which is a wellness centre developed at the community level which provides preventive, curative, rehabilitative and palliative care services with free diagnostic packages along with access to 106 essential drugs promising holistic care for people. The fourth pillar is the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission which promises to enhance and build a digital healthcare ecosystem that integrates tech and healthcare for better public health outcomes.
JP Nadda also mentioned at the summit that India pioneered the novel idea of democratising technology and developing digital public goods. He also emphasised that access to, and development of indigenous digital platforms and cutting-edge technologies is imperative for the socio-economic growth of the country.
