The Tamil Nadu Health Department recently said that intensified and coordinated efforts in controlling dengue helped reduce the spread and mortality in the state, where sporadic cases of fever and dengue were reported quite often in the past few months. Following this, the health department intensified monitoring and surveillance to control the spread.
In a press release the department highlighted that from January till 5th November, 20,138 dengue cases were reported across the state. Among them, 8 people lost their lives due to delay in seeking appropriate help and others are recovering successfully. Among the people who lost their lives to this vector-borne disease was also a six-year-old girl. After which the state has intensified the efforts to reduce dengue-related deaths and fatalities.
The outcome seems positive as the efforts have led to a reduction in cases as compared to the previous year and the number of reported cases in TN declined to 20,138 this year from 29, 402 in 2023 and 30,425 in 2022 as per the press release.
