Maharashtra will start enforcement drives for two-wheeler riders riding without during Road Safety Month, observed from January 15 to February 14. As per reports by TOI, there will also be checks on speeding, lane cutting and other offences on state national highways and Expressways, while volunteers will conduct road safety awareness campaigns targeting schools, colleges, marketplaces, and public spaces.
The district road safety committees will bring together key stakeholders, such as traffic police, transport officials, etc., to discuss and review the road safety situation in every Maharashtra district and identify the accident-prone blackspots. As for the state bus corporation, MSRTC, officials announced that it will observe a Road Safety Fortnight from January 11 to 25. The campaign will stress road safety and sensitise hundreds of drivers who operate 14000 state buses daily, most of whom drive under adverse conditions in the ghat sections.
