2. The ECU then collects this data and processes them to determine what would be an ideal fuel-air mixture for each cylinder of the engine.

3. The fuel injectors are then responsible for delivering the right amount of fuel into each of the valves of the cylinders, for optimum combustion.

4. Lastly, the fuel is mixed with the right amount of air, and this makes way for a combustion mixture. And the spark plugs ignite this mixture, to complete the entire cycle.

5. It must be noted that the fuel injection process continues on each of the injectors simultaneously for each rotation.

Multi point fuel injection system classifications

Multi point fuel injection system are usually classified into the following categories.

1. Batched MPFI

Also known as group MPFI, in this the cylinders in the engine are grouped. Each of these groups or batches receives fuel at the same time. However, each cylinder does not receive the fuel with individual timings. Compared to the other types, batched MPFI is cost-effective but isn't the most fuel-efficient.

2. Sequential MPFI

In this type of MPFI, each of the injectors operates separately and fuel is delivered to the intake valve at precise moments. It is one of the most efficient ways of delivering the fuel, thus, enhancing power, leading to better combustion and lower emissions.

3. Simultaneous MPFI

In this, the fuel is delivered simultaneously to all the cylinders. It offers adequate performance and fuel efficiency but isn't very precise.
