Ioniq 5 Indian variant has a 72.6 kWh battery pack offering a range of 631 km per ARAI records. It possesses a rear-wheel drivetrain capable of delivering an average power output of 217 PS. The highlights include a panoramic sunroof and 12.3” displays with a unique sliding centre console. The Indian price range revolves around INR 50 lakhs. It supports fast charging of up to 350 kW, allowing it to shoot from 0 to 80% within 18 minutes.
This is the primary model of the new generation electric vehicle of Hyundai.
Besides this, Hyundai Kia is also supposed to launch their electric variant of Kona in 2023, with an ex-showroom price range of INR 23.75 lakhs. Its battery pack is of 39.2 kW capacity clubbed with an electric motor of 136 PS and produces 395Nm of torque. The range is 452 km, as per ARAI claims.

B. Kia:
Kia revealed their EV9 Concept electric car at the Auto Expo recently held in Noida. This acts as a pioneer model in the battery-powered SUV genre. It is due to hit the Indian mass market in 2025. However, production will begin this year on Hyundai’s special E-GMP platform.
The per-charge battery range offered by this model is 540 km., allowing for up to 100 km range addition in an average of 6 minutes.

C. Mahindra:
Mahindra is set to produce full-range electric vehicles to hit the roads of India from 2024 onwards. This renowned car maker has already revealed as many as five electric SUV models that are supposed to be positioned under two EV brands of Mahindra called XUV and BE, the exclusively electric brand.
The company is ready to launch its first BE model of SUV called XUV-400 in January 2023, which was already revealed in September 2022.
It is equipped with a battery pack of 39.5 kWh capacity, allowing a maximum speed of 150 km/hour, with an acceleration speed reaching 0-100 km/hour in just 8.3 seconds. The per-charge battery range is 456 km. It won’t require more than 50 minutes for battery charging from 0-80% because of the 50kW fast charger.
After its launch, it will be primarily available in 16 Indian cities, including Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Delhi NCR, Pune, Chennai, Surat, Nagpur, Nashik, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Goa, and Ahmedabad.
D. >MG Motor:
MG Motor is all set to launch its second electric vehicle variant by the middle of 2023. This new variant is known as MG Air EV. This is a specially designed 3-door urban city EV. It was revealed at the Auto Expo, recently held in Greater Noida, a few days back.
MG Air EV will be available with two options of battery packs- 17.3 kWh and 26.7 kWh offering a range of 200 km and 300 km, respectively, after a single full charge. It is yet to be seen which model is set to hit the Indian auto market.
The company officials have claimed that this is supposed to be the smallest EV in the Indian context.
E. Tata Motors:
Although Tata Motors is supposed to launch exclusively ‘born electric’ cars from 2024 onwards, it has already showcased the AVINYA concept cars, which focus on converting the majority of the existing traditional combustion engine to electric variants. Another major project the company is involved in is the Curvv concept electric vehicle.
Tata already produces top-selling EVs like Nexon EV, Tiago EV, and Tigor EV. As per the sources, it is supposed to launch Punch EV, Harrier EV, Safari EV and Altroz EV in the current year. With all these upcoming projects, it is understandable that Tata Motors is about to set the Indian EV market on fire by enhancing the number of available options in the EV genre for the general public.
Each of these models is supposed to be available in different variants, further enhancing the scope for choices. Each of them will showcase certain special highlighting features and aspects.
F. Skoda:
Skoda will launch their EnyaqiV electric SUV in India this year. A special lithium-ion battery pack powers it clubbed with a powerful electric motor. It is currently available in various trim levels and variable battery sizes across the globe. However, the Indian market is supposed to experience it in the middle of 2023.
EnyaqiV 80 offers the maximum powertrain and comes with a 77kWh battery pack and a 125 kW DC fast charger. It is equipped with both rear and front axles, offering 261 bhp and AWD. This model can reach from nought to 100 km/hour in just 6.9 seconds and offers a WLTP-rated range of up to 513 km for a single full battery charge. It has a comfortable 13” infotainment display system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, 19” robust Proteus alloy wheels and advanced driving assistance features.
