However, the involvement of too many components makes it all the more complex.

3. V6 engine:

This is the commonest form of engine variant which includes 6-cylinder chambers. 2 sets, each of 3 cylinders remain interconnected with each other maintaining an angle of either 60, 90, or 120 degrees. These engine variants are comparatively shorter, lighter and compact, offering enhanced fuel efficiency.

4. V8 engine:

This is one of the most used and convenient layouts of the engine. It was first introduced back in 1903, post the successful implementation of the V2 engines. 2 sets of 4 cylinders remain fixed at an angle of 90 degrees with the help of a crankshaft. This rigid engine is quite noted for its immense combustion capacity.

5. V10 engine:

This sort of engine consists of a 10-cylinder piston, and 2 sets of 5-cylinders each remaining fixed in a V formation around the crankshaft. This sort of engine is by far the least popular variant as compared to the V6, V8, or V12 models. Multiple V10 diesel engines have been produced since 1965. However, with the launch of the Dodge Viper in 1991, the V10 petrol model was first introduced in road vehicles.

6. V12 engine:

Last but not least, V12 engine model consists of 12-cylinder chambers. These are especially noted for their highest horsepower-generating capacity. These are mostly used in high-capacity vehicles like ships, aircraft, military vehicles, etc. Here, 2 sets of 6 cylinders remain positioned at a 60-degree angle. This type of engine was first introduced in the Rolls Royce Phantom III model.

V-type engine cars exhibit a far more enhanced performance rate than inline engine vehicles.

4. Noise:

The V-type engine cars produce comparatively much lesser vibration and noise.

5. Power transfer:

The V engines require more pistons which eventually enhances the power transfer procedure to the crankshaft.

Disadvantages of V engine

Despite so many benefits, V engines have certain typical disadvantages too:

1. Complicated structure:

The V engine structure mechanism is comparatively far more complicated than inline engines, eventually raising the servicing and manufacturing prices.

The V-engine car drivers may face disturbing issues like mechanical stress and vibration if there is even a slight imbalance in the V-engine installation.
