It is Doctor’s Day. Let us be Grateful to Our Saviours

Doctor’s day is celebrated on the first of July every year in India in the honor of the late Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy, whose birthday the day is celebrated on. Doctors have, and continue to be an integral part of the life source of any economy or country and in the last year, have truly battled at the front lines to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.

Here are 6 reasons why we should all be grateful for our Doctors

  1. They’re the Life Force of Our Healthcare Systems

The healthcare system is held up by their work and contributions to society, a fact that has been brought to light more than ever during the covid pandemic. The risks they take on in a mere attempt to do their job and keep us healthy can be understood better than ever, as doctors continue to do their work every single day in order to keep the fight against the covid 19 vaccine alive. While we sought comfort and safety within our homes doing our own part, doctors dedicated themselves to the fight at the front lines, putting themselves and their families at risk.

  2. The Preparation

Before doctors are even able to begin treating you and tending to you and making sure your health is in, administering treatment according to our health insurance policies, they first go through an extensive and rigorous training process. The process entails education and experience of situations that takes a toll on them. With the spirit of service to the community at the core, they brave through it all and stand before us, engage with us and help with us in ways the value of which words cannot completely describe.

  3. Not Everyone Makes it in Their First Try

Doctors have to dedicate more than half a dozen years in order to get the certification to begin practising. This time of study includes extensive tests and examinations, long hours of study and gruelling preparation. Additionally, not everyone makes it through on the first time, meaning some of our front line warriors have gone through the process more than once. Needless to say, our doctors have already been through a lot even before they begin caring for us.

  4. It is a Dangerous Profession

While we are used to visiting our local physicians in air-conditioned clinics for our checkups and health insurance policies, the job of being a doctor is far from an easy one. Doctors are exposed to a slew of diseases and infections every single day, some of them more contagious than others.

  5. They do More Than Just Their Job Description

Doctors not only take care of our health but go above and beyond to listen to our concerns and treat our illness and queries with equal dedication. This is bound to take a toll on their mental health and is not something they are compensated for.

  6. They Assume All the Risk

While we are ensured by our health insurance policies, doctor’s take on all the responsibility of our treatment. While it is considered a job done as it should be if the treatment is successful, the doctor often finds themselves at the receiving end of taunts and threats from patients and family members who are not content with treatment, even if the doctor has tried their best.

    Conclusion

Being a doctor continues to be a highly coveted job in our country. However, the job of a doctor is far from easy. Not only do they put themselves at physical risk,  but the long and undefined work hours of a doctor takes a toll on their personal lives as well. It is important for doctors to keep their health and stability up, whilst they give their best to support the rest of us, something that we are truly grateful for. We take this moment to note that health insurance policies make quality care accessible to all. Find a policy that best suits your needs and reach out to the doctors who can guide you.

Let us stand with doctors all over the world in celebrating this day and share our respect for them.
