We are just a few days away from celebrating the day of love i.e the Valentine’s Day. It’s the best time of the year to express our love and gratitude to our partners. Gone are the days when giving a heart-shaped gift or bunch of roses would be considered as a present. While everyone likes to be a little cheesy and romantic but now people like thoughtful presents which can be useful even in the future.

This Valentine's Day make sure your gift is forever just like your bond. As you explore the various gifting options for your valentine think of health insurance. Now you must be thinking about who gives health insurance as a present, it's so inappropriate and not at all romantic. On the contrary, it is the most thoughtful present looking at the current scenario. It depicts you care about your valentine’s well being and want them to stay safe even after the pandemic.

If you aren’t convinced with the explanation let me make you understand this via an example:

Rahul and Priya have been together for the past 5 years and are successful IT professionals in their late 20s.

Marriage is the next step to take their relationship to the next level. As Valentine’s Day week is here Rahul decided to pop the question and make a marriage proposal to Priya. He has a ring and has made all the arrangements to make the evening special the only thing he feels that is missing in the evening is a present that is eternal, not materialistic.

After looking up on the internet, talking to friends and family he realized that Health insurance is the new age present.

It’s one of the best gifts to express how important her well being and safety is for Rahul. But he had second thoughts as Priya already had a group health insurance. After again researching about it on the internet he realized that group cover isn’t enough to cover all the medical expenses. Also, they are loaded with terms and conditions which at the time of need might not be very helpful. He went ahead with the plan of buying a medical insurance and started looking up various health insurance policies available.

Based on her needs and what benefits might be useful for Priya he decided to buy HDFC ERGO’S Optima Restore policy which covers daycare procedures, pre- post hospitalization expenses, AYUSH benefit, organ donor expenses, etc. Also, there is no health check-up required up to the age of 45^^ so it was a perfect surprise for her. He further comprehended that there are more than 10,000 network hospitals^ and #1.5 crore+ happy customers, now that’s huge! He further realized that she could save up to Rs 1 lakh as a tax benefit under section 80D of the income tax. So he was not only securing her future but saving her money in present.

The D-day had come and the evening went as planned. Priya said a yes to Rahul as he popped the question. Along with the ring he gifted her health insurance which totally surprised her.

She was puzzled with such an unusual gift but delighted to receive a thoughtful everlasting present. They decided next year at the time of renewal they would change her individual policy into a family floater one so they both could reap the benefits of the medical policy together.

Conclusion:

As time has changed dramatically we must also change our approach towards things and think more rationally. Gifting need not always be materialistic rather it can be more meaningful and worthy. This Valentine’s Day go check out HDFC ERGO’s health insurance plans and gift your valentine a health insurance policy for eternity. Break the stereotype of just gifting your partner but also gift your parents or friends a medical policy to show your gratitude.
