Are You Traveling to Europe this Winter Without any Insurance?
Are You Traveling to Europe this Winter Without any Insurance?
As the holiday season begins, you may be planning to Europe travel for a small vacation. Most of you might have been getting ready to travel since the lockdowns were lifted. European winters are beautiful and have been a very big tourist attraction. Be it visiting the mountain ranges or the quaint and beautiful cities, the region has much to offer. But the resurgence of COVID-19 and the subsequent increase in cases might be just postponing the trip a bit. So, for this winter, it is better not to travel to Europe.
A new variant known as Omicron has already begun to proliferate throughout cities around the world. Many businesses in the United Kingdom and elsewhere in Europe are in utter dismay and devastated by yet another lockdown scare.
For instance, a Pub/restaurant in the South of London called Parlez was anticipating good sales this Christmas and recovering the losses of the previous year’s lockdown. But to the owner’s distress, most of its group reservations have now canceled their bookings, resulting in heavy further losses.
Several EU nations have reported high infection rates in the last few weeks, according to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). In such a scenario, the ECDC advises people not to travel to EU countries unless absolutely necessary.
Numerous European countries were listed within the red zone of unsafe travel until last month; thankfully, the list is getting shorter with each day- a silver lining in the dark clouds indeed.
COVID situation is concerning but there’s a silver lining
As per the recent reports, Bulgaria, Austria, and Romania have the highest rates of infection. This is consistent with the data made available by the World Health Organization. While Austria and Bulgaria have confirmed cases well above 5000 which are expected to increase further in the future. Romania on the other hand has effectively reported over 12000 new cases so far since the past few weeks, the highest amongst all nations.
Winters can trigger allergies
So, even as the surging COVID cases are concerning everyone in the EU, the winters this year will be harsh. Furthermore, this season often triggers numerous allergies and is a leading cause of health-related issues in most people. Therefore, instead of traveling in the winters, try to make plans when the weather is pleasant and sunnier.
Travel across Europe is risky
The countries in Europe are now practicing utmost caution in regards to the traveling protocols being followed all across the continent. Though many nations are still allowing travelers into their borders with fresh rules and guidelines such as negative covid test reports and negative RTPC reports. Governments are, however, discouraging traveling at the moment so that the spread of the virus can be controlled. The good news is, it’s not as gloomy as the past year and things might improve over time.
Travel only if necessary
Even if you've been vaccinated twice, you cannot let your guard down. It is also advisable to avoid traveling during this period entirely and delay it until the condition has improved. Additionally, make sure you get yourself covered with HDFC ERGO international travel insurance. Because HDFC ERGO not only safeguards you financially but also takes care of the unexpected expenses and costs that may follow if you’re stranded abroad.
