Electric bikes are slowly and steadily becoming popular among bike owners. And there are quite a few strong reasons for the same. We will get to that in a bit. However, only a handful of the mainstream two wheeler manufacturers have jumped on to the bandwagon of making electric scooters and TVS is one of them. For your next TVS bike insurance is mandatory, as per the Motor Vehicles Act. TVS happens to be one of the very few popular manufacturers who have launched electric bikes. TVS entered the electric vehicle segment with iQube in 2020. After gathering valuable inputs from customers and getting a lot of feedback, TVS is back with an updated line-up for 2022. iQube is now available in three trims: the TVS iQube, the TVS iQube S, and the TVS iQube ST.
Top 5 Things to Know about TVS iQube ST.
1. Design Language
As far as the looks department is concerned, you will not be able to differentiate much between all the three models. The iQube ST looks quite similar to the iQube S and iQube models. However, you can get the iQube ST in four distinct colours Coral sand, Blue, Grey, and Copper-Bronze Matte.
TVS has placed the S and ST models above the base trim. Thereby, allowing customers to choose from a range of colours, charging options, features, and even the range of the scooter.
2. Improved Range
The scooter was launched back in 2020 and we already have an updated version. TVS has improved the overall usage range of the scooter with the iQube ST model. The new iQube ST model has a 5.1kWh battery pack, which gives it a usage range of 140 kilometers on a single charge. The iQube S model packs in a 3.4kWh battery pack with a usable range of 100 kilometers. The first model in 2020 had a 2.2kWh battery that give it a range of 75 kilometers. Thus, the improved range should give you a bit more peace of mind and less range anxiety.
3. Feature Loaded
The new iQube ST model has much better under-seat storage as well. The scooter offers 32 litres of space, which according to TVS should hold two helmets without any issues. In comparison, the iQube and iQube S models have a 17 litre under seat storage. The base variant continues to sport a 5 inch colour TFT screen as the instrument cluster. However, with the iQube S and ST, TVS has upgraded the screen to a 7 inch colour TFT unit. The ST model even gets a touchscreen with built-in Alexa function. You can ask Alexa about the remaining range.

TVS is now offering a host of charging options for the iQube models. These include accessories, portable charges and even an option for fast charging. The S and ST models are compatible with 650W and 950W portable chargers. These chargers offer a charging time of 4.5 hours and 3 hours respectively. Additionally, when you buy the iQube ST, you get the option of a 1.5kW portable charger.
5. Price
Though the TVS iQube has seen notable upgrades, the one segment where there has been no upgrade is the price. In fact, the base trim of iQube is now a bit more affordable. Back in 2020, the iQube had a price tag of INR 1,15,000 whereas the new base variant has a price tag of INR 1,12,000. The S trim comes with a price tag of INR 1,20,000 (on road price for Bangalore, inclusive of all other charges). TVS is yet to announce the price tag of the ST trim.
If you are still on the edge, about whether or not you should opt for an electric scooter, here are some reasons to consider. These should help you decide whether or not the electric scooter is for you.
Reasons to Consider Buying TVS iQube ST
- Running Cost
Two wheelers, in general, have low running costs. However, with an electric scooter, you can save even more than a conventional bike. Since they are battery operated, you do not have to spend as much on petrol and the fluctuations in fuel prices will not impact you as well.
- Noise
If you are someone who is not particularly fond of noise pollution or the exhaust notes of bikes and scooters, the electric vehicle can be a good option. Apart from the minor whirring of the electric motor, there is no other noise from an electric scooter.
- Low on Maintenance
An electric scooter does not have as many parts as an internal combustion engine. Thus, there are fewer parts that need regular maintenance or fewer parts that undergo wear and tear. That brings down the regular maintenance costs to a fraction of what one might have to do with a conventional scooter.
- Incentives
There is a big push from the government to ensure that more and more people adopt electric vehicles. Thus, there are a few incentives that will help you in bringing down the cost of electric scooters. State government incentives along with tax benefits make for a compelling case for electric scooters.
- Environment Friendly
Discussion about electric scooters or any electric vehicles for that matter is incomplete without the mention of them being environment friendly. And it is one of the biggest benefits of EVs. Since they do not burn any fuel, they do not produce any sort of pollution and are thus better for the environment.
- Better Storage
Electric scooters in general do not have many mechanical parts. Thus, enabling manufacturers to obtain a bit more space than conventional scooters. If you are looking for a bit more storage space, an electric scooter might be your best bet.
As is the case with any other bike, you must get insurance for your electric scooter as well. As per the Motor Vehicles Act, it is mandatory to have valid insurance.
