Water crisis in Bengaluru is now a matter beyond local concern. Experts believe the lack of water supply could affect the infrastructure of the city and lead to a slow down in real estate sector. With Bengaluru becoming the IT hub, the city has seen a rise in housing sales, however people might now think to relocate to other metros like Mumbai or Delhi.
This water scarcity can impact Bengaluru and other metros in a big way predicts experts. This can have an influence in real estate market trends and affects sales of properties. Recently the Bengaluru Chief Minister said that the city is facing a daily deficit of 500 million litres, which is approximately one-fifth of the city’s total daily demand. In the recent past, the city has established itself as a major centre for IT and other technology firms drawing an influx of people from across the country. This increased migration of professionals and a demand in housing sales and lease. However, with the crisis in the horizon, people might start to rethink their decision to settle in the city. This could let to a slowdown in housing demand in Bengaluru. On the other hand, if people move out in hoards to cities like Mumbai and Delhi the demand for housing in these cities might increase but there could be logistical challenges that could crop up. Both the metros are facing their own challenges like traffic congestion, air pollution, lack of proper public transport. A surge in population right now can strain the existing infrastructure challenges making the metros an unsuitable option for potential buyers.
