Bike Taxi Service to Commence in Mumbai From April 2025

Maharashtra Government plans to launch bike taxi service in Mumbai from April 2025. The proposal has already been sent by the Transport Department and it will be put up before the Cabinet. Once the Cabinet approves bike taxi service will commence in Mumbai from April. A bike taxi can be as cheap as Rs 3 per km.

The Cabinet is like to approve the policy soon. Officials told TOI that the draft policy allows bike taxis across the entire city, including heavy traffic areas of South Mumbai. The rules will be notified after the Cabinet approval. A bike taxi can be as cheap as Rs 3 per km.

Officials also told TOI that Government plans to encourage women bike riders and introduce a small partition behind the woman driver. Bike taxi service has already started in cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai. The Centre accorded approval for bike taxis two years ago while delegating the responsibility of rule formulation to the State Governments.
