The National Health Authority (NHA) brought DHIS into effect in India on 1st January 2023. This scheme brings about a robust digital health ecosystem in India with the implementation of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). better Senior citizen health insurance can be availed through this.
The Tier 1 and 2 cities in India have been the main beneficiaries of digital healthcare services. Hence, the Indian Government is encouraging medical institutions and the public to increase the usage of the digital healthcare system and transactions nationwide through DHIS.
What is DHIS?
Digital Health Incentive Scheme is a national scheme by the National Health Authority. It is a tool that promotes the nationwide implementation of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.

Overview of Beneficiaries:
Many government and commercial institutions are beneficiaries of the Digital Health Incentive Scheme. As of now, 1205 health facilities have registered under this scheme, out of which 567 are public and 638 are private facilities. Further, 25 digital solution companies have registered.
Some healthcare institutions that benefitted from DHIS are:
• Public medical institutions like AIIMS Delhi, AIIMS Bhopal and Lucknow, KC General Hospital Bengaluru and private hospitals like KGMU Lucknow, KIMS Hubbali Bengaluru
• Diagnostic labs like Indira Path Labs Delhi and Leo Clinical Lab Kannur
• Digital solution companies such as NIC, CDAC, Driefcase, Ekacare, Bajaj Finserv and Paytm
How to Register?
Healthcare institutions and digital solution entities can register for the Digital Health Incentive Scheme using the following method.
For Health Institutions:
1: Register on Health Facility Registry (HFR)
2: Use ABDM-enabled software
3: Login into HFR Profile to Register for DHIS
For Digital Solution Entities:
1: Register on ABDM Sandbox
2: Integrate and go live with health facilities
3: Login into ABDM Sandbox Profile to Register for DHIS
Documents and information required at the time of registration for DHIS:
• PAN card and copy of PAN card
• Name of Account Holder
• Bank Account number
• Name and address of Bank Branch
• IFSC code of the branch
• Attach cancelled cheque
• Attach entity mandate form as per undertaking form
Who Are Eligible?
• All Health facility institutions like clinics, Nursing Homes & Hospitals
• Laboratories/Radiology diagnostics centres
• Digital Solution Companies providing ABDM-enabled digital solutions
Transactions That Qualify Under the DHIS:
"Transaction" means creating any ABHA-linked health record by a healthcare facility or a Health Locker, which includes tele consultations, lab reports, prescriptions, etc. The benefits for the Digital Health Incentive Scheme will be provided to the health facilities only for transactions above the base threshold.
Incentives Under DHIS: How to Claim Them?

Incentives Under DHIS: When to Claim Them?
To claim the incentives, the entities must log in to their HFR profile, which is the HFR ID used to register for the Digital Health Incentive Scheme.
Every calendar month consists of two cycles, and in the first payment cycle, the claims entered on or before the 5th day of the month would be processed. In the second payment cycle, DHIS will process the claims submitted after the 5th day but before the 20th day of the month.

• What is considered as one transaction?
It is important to note that all the health records generated during the same hospital visit, for example, OP prescription, diagnostic reports, and even multiple consultations, etc., will collectively be considered as one transaction.
