Discontinued Bikes from TVS

There are some bikes and scooters that you saw while you were growing up. Either your parents had them or your favourite neighbour had them parked in their yard. You have fond memories of these two-wheelers and as an adult now, you may wish to get one of them. Sadly though, many of the old TVS models have been discontinued and people have even forgotten about them. In this article, we list 10 bikes and scooters that were once among the most loved but now seem to be forgotten.

Take a look at these old models of TVS and jog your memory

1. TVS Centar:

The first bike on the list is the classic TVS Centra. It was launched in 2004 and was an affordable bike that offered excellent mileage. It was a very popular bike among the student population, as many could afford it. It was also popular because, as compared to the competition, it had better fuel efficiency and the looks were quite enhanced too.

2. TVS Samurai:

This was a bike that was created when the TVS-Samurai partnership was at its peak. It was a rare two-stroke bike to be built in this partnership and was first seen in 1994. Considered to be one of the most stylish vehicles of the time, the bike was capable of touching a high speed of 87 km. It was very popular among dirt-bike enthusiasts. Many people bought high-coverage bike insurance plans as these bikes were very precious to them.

3. TVS Max 4R:

While the Bajaj Boxer bike is very well remembered, for some reason, the TVS Max 4R, which was a similar vehicle, seems to be forgotten by many. It was a sturdy and heavy-duty bike that was built to carry loads. It had a unique feature where the rear seat could be dislodged to make more room for goods to be accommodated. The bike enjoyed a good run and popularity back in the day but now has faded from our memories.

4. TVS Victor:

This was one of the few discontinued TVS bike models that not everyone has forgotten. The TVS Victor, which was first manufactured in 2001, was an immensely popular two-wheeler in India. It offered mileage of 75km, which was quite impressive at the time. The mileage was, in fact, quite high compared to the competitor bike models. The Victor was a very popular model and so many people got TVS insurance plans to cover this bike.

5. TVS XL Super:

Next, we have the much-loved TVS XL Super moped. The reason why it was so loved is that it was a light and zippy moped that had a long space for goods, making it very handy for the riders. With an engine of 69.9cc, it was very capable of producing 3.5hp of power and reached a top torque of 5Nm. After it was launched and while still available in the market, the TVS XL Super was one of the most popular and highest-selling mopeds in India.

6. TVS Suzuki Shogun:

To say the Shogun was an iconic model would be an understatement! Launched in the mid-1990s, the TVS Suzuki Shogun was a revolutionary bike. Fitted with a 108.2cc 2-stroke engine, it could touch a high speed of 105 km, and that was quite sensational at the time. Many people queued up to buy this two-wheeler, making it quite a rage in the 90s.

7. TVS Phoenix:

Next on the list is the Phoenix model from TVS Motors. It is one of the newer bikes, compared to the others listed here. It was launched in 2012 and enjoyed a short run in the market. TVS marketed it as the first premium 125cc bike in India. It was largely used as a commuted vehicle, but many people liked going on long road trips with this bike too. It was commonly used as a family two-wheeler as it looked good, was powerful and affordable too.

8. TVS Shaolin:

This was another iconic bike to be launched under the partnership between Suzuki and TVS. The TVS Shaolin was launched in the late 90s and enjoyed a long run in the market. It had one of the largest engines at 138.2cc which generated 11.5hp of power and high torque of 12.3Nm. This made the bike a very powerful one and an instant hit among the bikers.

9. TVS Apache 150:

A forerunner to the current TVS Apache models, the Apache 50 was launched in 2006. At the time, it was one of the few bikes to have a 147cc engine, making it very powerful and much sought after.

10. TVS Wego:

The TVS Wego scooter was declared the scooter of the year in India in 2011, two years after it was launched. It was a very stylish and high-performance scooter that was greatly loved by male and female riders.
