• Turmeric powder — Just a pinch

• Asafoetida — Just a pinch

• Slit green chilies — 2

• Chopped ginger — ½ tsp

• Water — 2 cups

• Mustard seeds — 1 tsp

• Tamarind water — 2 tbsp

• Coriander paste — 1 tsp

• Cumin seeds — ½ tsp

• Chilli powder — ½ tsp

• Crushed garlic cloves — 3- 4

• Dry red chilies — 2

• Curry leaves — 10-12

• Salt to taste

• Oil — 2 tsp

Steps to Make Dosakai Pappu

To prepare this dosakai pappu recipe, you need to follow the given steps:

1. Wash the dal several times until it is totally clean.

2. Put the dal, diced cucumbers, chopped tomatoes, slit green chillies, and water in a pressure cooker.

3. Next, pressure-cook the dal up to 3 whistles and allow it to cool.

4. Remove the lid, add turmeric powder, salt, tamarind water, and coriander paste; mash all ingredients using a masher and then give it a good stir.

5. Bring the entire mix to a boil on medium flame.

6. Next, in a tadka pan, heat oil and add ingredients like garlic cloves, dry red chillies, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, chopped onion, and curry leaves. Sauté gently until you get a mouthwatering aroma.

7. Now add a pinch of asafoetida and chilli powder to the tadka and mix well.

8. Add the tadka or seasoning to the cooked dal mix and give a vigorous stir.

9. Turn the flame off and serve it to your kid with steamed rice.
