Pulsar has a cult following in India, given the craze for this bike among the youth for decades. And to keep that aura and charisma intact, Bajaj has launched the new Pulsar in the market to take on the rivals and give a fresh option to the enthusiasts. The newest Pulsar in 150cc segment, P150 is the successor of the best-selling 150 version and comes with a lot of upgrades over the current model. And with the launch of the new model, the price of the new model has also been updated. Hence, with the increased price, the Bajaj bike insurance would be a bit higher than the current model. So, let’s see what new you are getting in the new pulsar in the styling, specs and features department.

Bajaj Pulsar P150 vs Bajaj Pulsar 150 : The Looks

The newly launched Pulsar P150 carries the same DNA of sharper and more aggressive styling, with the front profile featuring a bi-functional LED projector headlamp, with LED DRLs. The sporty design is further emphasized by metalized dual colours, sharper tank shrouds and a robust rear end with a new LED taillamp deriving inspiration from the new-generation Pulsars. The bike no longer features a side-slung exhaust, but rather a precisely designed underbelly exhaust that ensures better handling and balance. Though the P150 is sportier than before, it reminds us of the styling of the siblings Pulsar N160 and N250, yet stands apart from them. The new Pulsar gets five colour options, including three dual-tone body paints, compared to three single-tone colour options in Pulsar 150.

On the other hand, the looks of the Bajaj Pulsar 150 have not changed since long. The bike boasts the same strong and bold styling, which makes it big and muscular on the road. The Pulsar 150 features the same legendary wolf eye inspired headlight unit, dagger-edged graphics, carbon fibre accents, a bikini fairing cowl, a muscular tank, a split seat, split grab rails and black alloy wheels.

Overall, in terms of styling, there is not a revolutionary change, but yes, there are sporty elements that make the newest Pulsar stand apart from the other family members.

Bajaj Pulsar P150 vs Bajaj Pulsar 150 : The Specs

The latest Pulsar P150 gets a slightly powerful engine. The bike comes with an upgraded 149.68cc motor that produces 14.5 PS and 13.5 Nm torque, an increase of 0.5 PS and 0.25 Nm torque over the sibling Pulsar 150. The engine comes coupled with a five-speed gearbox. The P150 is configured on a new-generation pulsar platform, with a steel cradle frame underneath. The bike is suspended on a telescopic fork up front and a revised monoshock at the rear. The braking is handled by a 260mm front disc, and a 230mm disc or 130mm drum at the back, depending on the model. The braking is supported by a single-channel anti-lock braking system. And for strengthening the safety net, choosing the bike insurance can be the right choice for your new Pulsar.

Apart from braking, the tyre size also remains the same, with 80/100-17 at the front and 100/90-17 at the rear. However, the twin disc variant features larger 90/90-17 and 110/90-17 front and rear tyres. The bike also weighs 10kg lighter than the Pulsar 150, when the 14L fuel tank is filled up to the brim.

The Pulsar 150, on the other hand, is a perfect combination of power and performance, with the 149.5cc fuel-injected, single-cylinder, 4-stroke motor that pumps out 14 PS and 13.2 Nm torque. For deriving maximum comfort and thrill of riding, the Pulsar 150 is suspended on a telescopic front fork and adjustable nitrox gas-filled rear shock absorbers. The ultra-safe braking is ensured by the 280mm or 260mm disc at the front and 230mm rear disc.

Bajaj Pulsar P150 vs Bajaj Pulsar 150 : The Features

Both the Pulsars feature a semi-digital instrument cluster, there is a slight difference when you look closely. The Pulsar P150 has a bezel-less infinity console combining modern digital readouts and a classic analogue tachometer. The digital console is shared with the N250 and N160, featuring a clock, gear position indicator, and distance-to-empty, apart from all telltale lights. The P150 also features a USB mobile charging point positioned conveniently close to the tank flap. The Pulsar 150 boast the same semi-digital instrument panel, finished in faux carbon fibre, showing the fuel level, odometer, speed, backlit switch gear and trip meters.

Bajaj Pulsar P150 vs Bajaj Pulsar 150 : The Price

The sporty Pulsar P150 is a proper generational update over the current Pulsar 150, hence, demanding a marginal price increase. The Pulsar P150 is tagged at the starting price of Rs. 1.16 lakh for the front disc variant, and Rs 1.19 lakh for the twin disc model. The price is slightly more than the Pulsar 150, which comes in the range of Rs. 1.05 lakh and Rs. 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom).

The P150 is currently available in a few select cities, however, it is expected to reach more destinations in the coming months. If the bike is available at your nearest Bajaj showrooms, this is also the best time to get comprehensive bike insurance for your Pulsar. It offers coverage for different kinds of unwanted damages, theft, natural disasters, and even vandalism. Getting multi-year Bajaj bike insurance coverage will help save a lot of money in the long run.

Conclusion

The Pulsar line-up has been so successful that it gives Bajaj enough encouragement to keep on introducing new versions now and then. The latest Pulsar P150, like its other predecessors and current sibling, is expected to stay here long as it comes with a revamped design, updated engine, and suspension, as well as features that would be more than enough to attract the youth brigade.

Along with alterations in every department, the new Pulsar comes with an updated price tag over the current Pulsar 150. The new version makes a strong case in favour of itself as it targets enthusiasts looking for an entry-level performance bike in a decent price range. If you are one of those, who want a balance of performance and efficiency, with that typical Pulsar DNA, then the 2022 Pulsar P150 is the one for you.
