The KTM 390 Adventure bike is a high-end model and if you plan to go on long rides or use it regularly, there are chances of it getting damaged. A third-party (TP) liability policy is compulsory but it would cover only third-party loss in case of an accident. Your bike can get damaged due to non-accidental reasons too. So, to save on your repair costs under such situations, you need an own-damage cover. A comprehensive KTM Duke bike insurance policy includes both long-term TP and annual own-damage cover and you need not buy TP and own-damage policies separately. You will also get no claim bonus in case there are claim free years for own damage.
A standard own – damage or comprehensive bike insurance policy will not cover the cost of damage to your bike due to depreciation or normal wear and tear due to aging. This includes damage to tyres, tubes, certain plastic and metal parts. You need to pay for repair or replacement of these parts out of your own pocket. But if you buy a zero-depreciation add-on cover by paying additional premium, the depreciation cost will also get covered. Go through the policy document to know about the extent of cover a zero-depreciation policy would provide before you finalise the purchase.
